Privacy Policy

Foreword does not maintain a database of users or user inputs. The only information we process is the text you type into the input field when requesting a book recommendation. We don't have a file cabinet that stores things like 'Isabella said xyz at 11:02:42pm EST from xyz.'

We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information. We have no user accounts and no login system.

We do use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data. This includes page visits, session duration, and button interactions. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally. This helps us improve your site experience by showing us what sucks.

Also, if you provide feedback on 'Did we get this right', we see the percentage split between 'yes' and 'no'. Helps us decide if our model needs tweaking.

When you submit your text, it is transmitted to the third-party services listed below to generate your recommendation. It is not stored on any Foreword server - there is no Foreword server. Processing happens entirely between your browser and these external APIs. Again, there's no backroom looking at what Elijah said 2 days ago.

Once your session ends or you click "Try Again," nothing from your input persists anywhere in our systems. Poof!

Separately from your text input, Google Analytics passively collects anonymous behavioral data via cookies. This data is never linked to your text input and is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Your input is shared with the following services to make the recommendation work. Each governs their own data handling under their respective privacy policies.

Foreword retains no data from your text input. Your input exists only in your browser's memory for the duration of your session. When you close the tab, refresh the page, or click "Try Again," it is gone. Poof again!

We have no ability to retrieve, review, or delete your past inputs because we never stored them.

Google Analytics data is retained by Google according to their own data retention policies. This data is anonymous and not linked to your text inputs. Your input is not sent to Google Analytics.

Foreword uses cookies solely for analytics purposes through Google Analytics. These cookies collect anonymous data about how visitors use the site — such as which pages are visited, how long sessions last, which buttons are clicked, and how users arrived to the site.

We do not use cookies for advertising, user tracking across other websites, or any purpose other than understanding how the site is used in aggregate.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time using Google's browser opt-out tool. You can also block cookies through your browser settings — this will not affect your ability to use Foreword.

Foreword is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly process information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used this service, please contact us using the details below.

Foreword is built on Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. By using this application, your inputs are subject to Anthropic's usage policies in addition to this privacy policy. You can review Anthropic's policies at anthropic.com/legal.

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Foreword after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
